"It is estimated that 420,600 Canadians over 65 have Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, and 280,000 have Alzheimer's disease. The number of people in Canada with dementia is expected to grow by the year 2031 to over 3/4 million people due to the aging population." (from the Alzheimer Society of Canada web-site).

I am 34 years old and I have been involved with riding and racing motorcycles for the better part of the 27 years. I have witnessed the affects of Alzheimer disease first hand. My grand mother was diagnosed with it and it eventually took her life. As a father of three I can't imagine losing the memories of my children. As a husband, I don't want to see my wife go through it. As an avid off road motorcycle enthusiast I would never want to lose those life time memories I have created.

It is now time for me to give back something. It's time for my passion for off road riding and racing to pay off. It's time for me, a very average person, to make a difference.

I am planning on riding my off road motorcycle for 24 hours straight. This will happen on a closed course and will take place at the end of July 2008. I will set up a 10 - 20 km loop that I will continuously ride for a 24 hour period.
